- We call seaweed cultivation, the mass cultivation of seaweed on a certain site to process or eat it.
How seaweed is processed
- Seedling production
- Clam shells are spread horizontally on a water basin, to insert carpospore and cultivate seaweed. Either natural seedlings are collected around September or cultivated filament shells are used to artificially collect seedlings.
- Cultivation
- Seaweed is cultivated by turning over laver beds for greater exposure to sunlight.
- Collection
- Before automation, seaweed was collected one by one from laver beds. Nowadays, however, spiral shaped saw blades installed in boats cut the seaweed to collect.
